The Global Competitiveness Report 2008-2009
The United States tops the overall ranking in The Global Competitiveness Report 2008-2009 and Switzerland is in second position followed by Denmark, Sweden and Singapore. The United Kingdom drops down from 9th to 12th place.
The rankings are based on an extensive survey carried out by the World Economic Forum with its network of Partner Institutes in the countries covered by the report. The survey attempts to quantify the impact of a number of key factors which contribute to create the conditions for sustained growth.
