On November 24-25 IESE will host the 24th Annual Meeting of the Automotive Sector whose central theme will be “The Automotive Industry in 2020.” The event’s participants will include José Manuel Machado, the chairman and CEO of Ford Spain; Fumiaki Matsumoto, the general manager of Nissan Spain; Rafael Prieto, the managing director of Peugeot Spain, and James Muir, the new president of SEAT. The president of the Regional Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya), José Montilla, will deliver the event’s closing address.

The meeting will take place against a backdrop of financial crisis, falling sales and increasing state assistance to the sector. However, the sector is demonstrating once again a certain capacity for regeneration, despite the current outlook. Discussions will focus on, among other things, the growth of emerging markets and the appearance of new sectors such as electric and hybrid cars.
