Global City GDP Rankings
The latest ranking of the largest city economies in the world is headed by Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles, which according to the study’s forecasts, will maintain their dominant position up to 2025. London, meanwhile, moved up one place from 5th to 4th.
Barcelona broke into this year’s rankings, making Spain the only country in Europe to have two cities in the ranking (Barcelona and Madrid). However, according to the study, metropolises in emerging economies such as Río de Janeiro, Cairo and Bombay are likely to overtake the Spanish cities in the next 15 years.
